Mayor's Youth Council Seeking Applicants
The City of Stephenville and Mayor Doug Svien are proud to host the Stephenville Mayor's Youth Council.
Applications for the 2025 through 2026 program are now open! August 15th is the deadline to apply.
Mission
To develop a group of interested youth who will provide their perspective on city issues, assist in fostering a sense of community engagement, and educate on city governance and voter engagement.

- Visit the State Capitol in the Spring and meet elected representatives
Qualifications to Apply
- Must be a resident of the City of Stephenville or Erath County
- Must be entering 9th through 12th grade
- Must be enrolled in Public, Private, or home school in Erath County
- Must be able to commit to attending all MYC meetings; members may not have more than 2 absences
- Must commit to participating in the minimum required amount of Civic Engagement
Civic Engagement
Participants in the Mayor's Youth Council must complete a minimum of 15 hours of Civic Engagement throughout the program. Activities this may include are as follows, but not limited to:
- Attending a City Council meeting
- Attending a Citizen Board and Commission meeting
- Attending a non-profit organization's board meeting
- Volunteer at City sponsored event
